Diving Deep into December.

Link to Diving Deep into December

In week nine term of four 2018 (last week of school ) we have had a mini inquiry topic it was Diving Deep into December. There is a quote that says no act of kindness no matter how small is ever wasted.  We have to "Open our Eyes" is the first topic. We are to find out what poverty is and why it is where it is who it is what it is. Our second topic is "Getting Grateful" this is the quote for this one

‘Gratitude unlocks the fullness of Life, It turns what we have into enough’… Melody Beattle.

The third one is "Paying it Forward" we have to find out what "Paying it Forward is" and we have to create a skit about our learning. Our final one is to create a Christmas gift for a needy person by donating stuff you do not need or fit or use for a needy family or person to give the gifts to.

Japan

During the past few weeks we have been working on our culture club projects. Me and Natalie had decided that we are going to do Japan for our country. We had a bit of an advantage because my cousin lives in Japan and he had sent over some food a while ago and so I brought some of that food to the feast that we had. It was fun trying new types of foods.  Here is our presentation.

My 1080 Speech

This year our speeches are based around " Actions Speak Louder Than Words " My topic is " 1080 not anymore (Save Our Native Birds)"

1.1080, Not Anymore (Save Our Animals)
This term our school focus is “ Actions Speak Louder Than Words”. Actions Speak Louder Than Words, means don’t just talk the talk, you need to walk the walk as well. Did you know that our native animals like birds horses bunnies rabbits pig cows foxes deer cows dogs are dying from 1080? 1080 is a poison that is killing all our animals. We are dropping 1080 in the forests, to kill pests like (rats and mice) but our helpful animals are getting killed by it as well. We need to change this! Also 1080 is toxic. 1080 is only affecting animals that live on land. If you haven't caught on by now 1080 is BAD!

2.Would you rather see birds flying and animals running around, or see them fall to the ground like rain dropping from the sky. What is killing our animals? 1080!  What are we getting more and more animals killed by? 1080!  1080 is deadly to all animals and potentially humans too!

3.Why can't we find a friendlier way to kill pests? The fish in the sea are also getting 1080 dropped in there ocean. Luckily the 1080 is not affecting the fish. What is being dropped in the ocean? 1080! What is getting dropped in our forests? 1080! If that was not enough  here's another reasons why we should banned 1080.

4.1080 is already banned in Brazil, Belize ,Cuba, Laos, Slovenia, Thailand. Why can’t we  ban 1080? There are so many countries that have banned it like the countries I previously said. Would you help me ban 1080 to make New Zealand a better place.

5.So in conclusion, what are you still waiting for, come on help me ban 1080. Why are we letting 1080 kill animals. Letting it being dropped in our oceans and our forests. There has recently been a rabbit 1080 drop.  why can't we ban it too?

Quality blog comments

In Moana Learning Hub we have been receiving or not receiving quality blog comments!  We have been very disappointed because we put a lot of effort in to our blog posts and our comments. On the side you will see our quality blog comment poster. It would be awesome if you could try this out on some of our blogs. Maybe you could do more commenting on our own blogs than the class blog.
I'm really hoping to get more quality blog comments on my own blog this term.

RUN NZ

In Moana Learning Hub our teacher has put together a fitness programme called "RUN NZ". There are 5 routes to choose from. The yellow is the first option, orange is the second option, the third option is purple, blue is the fourth option and the last option is pink. How this works is each day at 11.00-11.20 Moana Learning Hub goes out and runs as many laps as we can of the field. Each lap is counted as 20 kilometres (the field is not even one kilometre). I have decided that I am going to do option four. That is the whole of the North Island and the top of the South Island. The best thing is that I am  getting fit and trying to get more laps so that I can complete my goal.

The one with the volcano and the dragon  is my friend Poppy's her

My Quick write

Frosty  footprints were all that were left in the snow. They were bear footprints.I carefully followed the big white bear, the bear lead to a cave under the snow. Suddenly the wind picked up. I had  no choice but to go in the cave. It turned out that they were super super nice. He had other family members there and all of them were nice. They had  caught fish and they cooked it. The fish was delicious. The bear's warm fur against my cold skin was wonderful. They had made me a warm coat out of their fur.

Kawa of Care

Hello again. Today I will be telling you about kawa of care. Kawa of care  is looking after things mainly just chrome books. We have made a digital  poster  of  what kawa of care is. Kawa of care is being safe on the Internet and putting our chrome books away carefully. If something goes wrong, try really hard to figure it out yourself. If you can't, ask three people and  then go to the teacher. If they don't know what to do the last option is Ms Ducky. It is not the chrome book monitor's job to put them away. It is your responsibility to put your chrome book away. You have to close all your tabs, then sign out, then push shut down at the end of the day so that the chrome book charger doesn't fry. Try and remember to bring your own chrome book. if you have your own chrome book the other people will have to share with that person if there are not any chrome books. Kawa of care is not just a digital thing. You can care for other things, not just chrome books.

Great Start To Our Timetables

Hello again! We have been using weekly timetables to keep track of our learning. It is quite new for me. We have to sign up for our workshops. Our teachers sends us a google form via email. We fill it out and send it back filled in. Then we put our workshop on our timetable of course we put other things in. There is this really cool page called links to learning. We have to do all of the activates on the page  at least once. We fill in four days of the week, Monday to Thursday on our timetable. We have to make sure that we are at the right workshop at the right time. We know which workshop to go to because it will be a workshop about a some piece of learning that we don't understand.

I learnt that we don't have to have a teacher telling us what to do. We get thirty minutes to work on the activity that we have signed up. At the end of the thirty minutes there is a bell. That bell tells us that we have to move on to our next activity. We have to check with the teacher of what we have done and she/he will check it off.

This is a screenshot of our timetable. You can see what other people are doing. We go to our learning hub to get on to the new timetable. Here is a a screenshot of the clock below.
